Lady In Red- ASOS T-Shirt Dress

Dress: ASOS

Knee High Socks: Primark

Jewellery: Topshop

Hello again!!! I bet you weren’t expecting to hear from me so soon after my last post. Well here I am. I received a  bit of feedback from my last post and apparently you guys want photos. I hope you enjoy this post more than the last one!

Today I’m sharing with you my new love for heavy gold accessories and red clothing. Although I say red, I actually mean a deeper shade, for example burgundy or maroon. The dress above is actually an oversized T-shirt, I loved the colour so much, and decided that it would be fun to turn it into a dress, adding a belt to pull in your waist really shows off your figure. On top I added a vintage  blazer accentuated with gold cuffs; because the blazer is quite big it can be used a coat, which is really needed in this weather, especially. Another reason why I love blazers are the shoulder pads. I know that its a little 2009/10 but i do love the eighties and try get a little shoulder action going whenever its possible, it really makes an outfit more dramatic.

The jewellery- I don’t know if you have noticed but the gold chain isn’t actually hanging correctly, make sure you check that before you leave the house. I think chunky gold jewellery goes perfectly with maroon and burgundy. I think the colours look urban and sophisticated and again are a little eighties inspired.

Leather Trousers

Shirt: H&M

Leather Trousers: Dorothy Perkins

Heels: Missguided

This time I have added black leather trousers, to my ‘red’ shirt. I do love the leather trousers, as they make the entire outfit a little bit more rocking.  Obviously, you can use leather leggings with this as well. Leggings are lighter, however I have always found that the leather in the trousers looks more authentic. Again the same jewellery can be used here.

My favourite item has to be the heels. I call them The Beasts because they are 6″ and have a snake-skin design on the front. Although, they are slighty heavy and will get uncomfortable by the end of the night, these shoes are too gorgeous to pass up. Here is a closer look:

                                                               The Beasts

The heels are from Missguided, and are only £37.99, as soon as you put them on, you instantly feel like a diva.

Well we all know its fashion week and like most bloggers I’ve enjoyed looking at the designers newest creations.  The name that keeps popping up has to be Victoria Beckham. Whether it is really because of her clothes or because there are pictures of her husband’s semi-naked body plastered all over the place, whatever it is Victoria has to be given her props because what she has produced is truly fabulous. Beckham stuck with her smart and sexy vision, with touches of military inspiration. My favourite part of her vision is that none of it is over flashy or too eccentric but the beauty is much more demure and classy.  Other names such as Alexander McQueen, Alberta Ferretti didn’t disappoint in their production of beautiful pieces.

Lady in Red overview

“How not to try too hard…”

3 Nov

I’m back! Like everyone sometimes my worn out heels and faded jeans have to take a break from blogging and enjoy some free time as well as catching up on work that just keeps piling up. I apologise to anyone who has been yearning for post. However, whilst I was away I had a chance to pick up on some amazing fashion deals and tips that I thought I should share with, which will be coming in the upcoming weeks. I am really enjoying the input and definitely want to hear more, so make sure you keep in touch because the best part about doing this is receiving feedback and finding out what you have to say. Please follow @Obbiex on twitter because she is constantly tweeting about the blog.

Today’s theme is ‘How not to try too hard… ’ and I thought I’d share with you what I am wearing to college. Because college/ school/ work are just everyday affairs you don’t want to appear to be putting too much effort into your outfits, even though you actually are. The outfit I am wearing today shows you just how to do that. What is even better is that I was able to get this outfit without breaking the bank.

On my feet I am wearing some Henry Holland ankle boots, these are my all-time favourites, I love them so much because they are so comfortable and cheap, so I don’t feel guilty wearing them. I bought them for £45 but I reckon they are selling at £30.00 now. They freshen up an outfit and add a little bit of class with the brogue detailing.

I am wearing faded skinny jeans and you can get these amazing jeans that just elongate your legs and still make the outfit look extremely casual. It will be as if you just threw it on, rather than spend hours on it.  The Jeans are from Topshop, and are being sold at £40.00, Jamie High Waisted Ankle Grazer Skinny Jeans. The ankle grazer aspect of the jeans really makes you seem taller.

By adding a black bodysuit here, it really sucks in your stomach and makes it appear much flatter than it actually is.  You can pick this up from http://www.missguided.com for just £8.99. This is such a bargain because it’s one of those items which you will constantly be wearing.

A leather jacket will definitely rock out the outfit, without going too overboard. This particular one is from Miss Selfridge for £55, however, leather jackets so en trend right now that they are selling them everywhere. So, if you are a little short on quality and are not two fussed about the cost you could probably get one from Primark for half the price.

 Jersey Sleeve Biker

Finally to get a bit of attention and keep your ears warm as it gets colder; add a faux fur head band.  This particular one from ASOS adds a little colour to the outfit and makes it seem a little more glamorous.  The best part about it is that it’s only £8.00. The probably the cheapest bit of glamour you will ever see.

So that’s it! A total of £142.00 spent on a whole outfit at the most, which is incredible! Please remember that you don’t have to go and buy exactly what you see. Use what’s in your wardrobe, allow accessories to really show who you are.  Make sure your personality comes through so that you don’t just copy an outfit it; but you take it and make it yours. Make it believable for you!

Dress for youe size- The rest and more

29 Sep

Hi Guys,

I would like to apologise for the lack of blogs. My routine has been jumbled slightly and I needed to allocate time to do this. However I am back, and after a lot of thinking I realised that the ‘dress for your size’ will soon become extremely tedious and boring for you guys. So I am going to finish it off here, with a couple more…

Hourglass

The hourglass figure recalls old school Hollywood glamour and is a look that Kelly Brook has down to a tee.

A woman with an hourglass figure often tries to hide her curves, but now’s the time to celebrate them! Make the most of your gorgeous body shape and flaunt it in this season’s latest trends. Opt for plain colours or geometric prints, and asymmetric shapes that show off your curves. Take a look at our suggestions.

Dresses

An empire line is perfect for those of us with wide hips as it cuts in at the waist and flows over your lower half, hiding any lumps and bumps.

There are so many different shapes that people are, I can’t put them all on here. However, for those who want more information on a particular shape, or would like to know what shape they are; either comment on the blog or email me through the site. if you would like to find out what shape you are please add your measurements to the message.

Before I say goodbye for today, I would like to share with you something that has been really playing on my mind. As we get older we become more interested in standing out, especially with our clothes, we don’t want to have what someone else has but  something  completely special, which sums  us up and ourcharacter. This aim is extremely difficult because the mainstream shops where we enjoy shopping e.g. Topshop, make it incredibly difficult to get something different that only belongs to you and no one else. This plays on my mind because recently it has become a constant struggle to find my individuality and freedom within fashion. This blog’s slogan is ‘Fashion is Freedom’, it’s the way we show our true selves, but how do we do this when everyone wears the same thing. My solution, which is probably the same for many others is to go vintage. We all know how hard it is to find good vintage in charity shops and the vintage shops can be so difficult to get to. But many don’t try vintage websites like this one: rokit.co.uk .I found rokit in Vogue and was amazed by the astounding prices. You have to have a bit of faith with the sizes, but all in all there are some incredible finds that will truly make you stand out.

For example, I am in love with this Orange, Black and White Tribal Tie-Front Blouse, which is only £20.00, check it out!
