Saying goodbye to beauty

12 Feb

Whitney Houston R.I.P

Hey guys, I write to you the day I hear about the passing of a musical legend, or what I would like to a musical angel. Her voice was pure and beautiful and I grew up getting down to her tunes. I wanted to dedicate today’s blog to her because she was a true inspiration. Sometimes it not important how or when we die, but what we leave behind. Whitney Houston left behind her songs, which the rest of the world can enjoy forever. In her memory I would like to share some beautiful fashion items with you…

French Connection Navy Halter Maxi

I saw this dress, fell in love and just had to share it with you! It’s ridiculously cheap for French Connection, RRP £150. With soft makeup, little jewellery makes you look effortlessly beautiful, as well as the length making you seem inches taller. The colour is demure and striking all at the same time. By the way I’m gushing you wouldn’t be surprised if I told you that I have a slight obsession with the dress.

Henry Holland Pink Floral Cropped Shirt

Anyway, I can’t live in the past and despite my best efforts of finding it on the internet the shirt is no longer out there! 😦 That is why I was so overwhelmed with excitement when I  found something as fun and vibrant in Topshop the other day.

Topshop Floral Playsuit

The colours are bolder in person, but by the design you can see how amazing it is!!

Lastly, I’m selling some items on eBay can get them cheaper if you inbox me on twitter… follow me @obbiex

Dress for youe size- The rest and more

29 Sep

Hi Guys,

I would like to apologise for the lack of blogs. My routine has been jumbled slightly and I needed to allocate time to do this. However I am back, and after a lot of thinking I realised that the ‘dress for your size’ will soon become extremely tedious and boring for you guys. So I am going to finish it off here, with a couple more…

Hourglass

The hourglass figure recalls old school Hollywood glamour and is a look that Kelly Brook has down to a tee.

Kelly Brook

A woman with an hourglass figure often tries to hide her curves, but now’s the time to celebrate them! Make the most of your gorgeous body shape and flaunt it in this season’s latest trends. Opt for plain colours or geometric prints, and asymmetric shapes that show off your curves. Take a look at our suggestions.

Dresses

An empire line is perfect for those of us with wide hips as it cuts in at the waist and flows over your lower half, hiding any lumps and bumps.

There are so many different shapes that people are, I can’t put them all on here. However, for those who want more information on a particular shape, or would like to know what shape they are; either comment on the blog or email me through the site. if you would like to find out what shape you are please add your measurements to the message.

Before I say goodbye for today, I would like to share with you something that has been really playing on my mind. As we get older we become more interested in standing out, especially with our clothes, we don’t want to have what someone else has but  something  completely special, which sums  us up and ourcharacter. This aim is extremely difficult because the mainstream shops where we enjoy shopping e.g. Topshop, make it incredibly difficult to get something different that only belongs to you and no one else. This plays on my mind because recently it has become a constant struggle to find my individuality and freedom within fashion. This blog’s slogan is ‘Fashion is Freedom’, it’s the way we show our true selves, but how do we do this when everyone wears the same thing. My solution, which is probably the same for many others is to go vintage. We all know how hard it is to find good vintage in charity shops and the vintage shops can be so difficult to get to. But many don’t try vintage websites like this one: rokit.co.uk .I found rokit in Vogue and was amazed by the astounding prices. You have to have a bit of faith with the sizes, but all in all there are some incredible finds that will truly make you stand out.

For example, I am in love with this Orange, Black and White Tribal Tie-Front Blouse, which is only £20.00, check it out!

New Beginnings: Dress for your size- Pear

31 Aug

It feels like i haven’t blogged for ages, with the bank holiday weekend and getting ready for college. Time just slipped away from me. Today is officially the last day of August, and therefore the end of the Prolong the Summer Series. Don’t worry, I really feel like we have prolonged it enough. But before we go head in to Autumn, I feel like some tips should be given out to ensure everything you wear looks superb.

At the beginning of the academic year everyone wants to make a change with their life and start again new, whether we actually go through is another matter 😉 I feel like we do the same with our fashion, I find myself buying new clothes in order for my look to be completely transformed along with my personality. However, no matter how much I try I continuously  stumble with certain aspects of my fashion because I don’t consider how certain clothes will fit with my body shape. I see so many people stumble with this aspect- their clothes are fantastic and really original, you can tell they have style. But unfortunately their clothes don’t fit their shape and either engulf them and completely swamp them out or they just look out of proportion. Dressing for your shape is essential in fashion in order to get clothes looking their best.

Now that I have explained the necessity I can explain the different shapes.

Today is Pear Shaped.

Pear Shaped: Think Beyonce or Nicki Minaj

Pear shaped women have curvaceous hips, thighs and bottoms with smaller bust and shoulders.

If you are pear shaped you should look out for; frills on tops, layering on top, light colours with darker bottoms, sleeves or shoulder pads. All these things will happen balance you out.

Just adding a simple blazer or jacket to an outfit will draw more attention to your top half and less to your bottom.

View Item Cream Tailored Cropped Blazer

This blazer from owntherunway.com is being sold at £33.99, which is such a bargain and would really help balance out a pear shaped body.

A perfect outfit would be this one below. The skirt isn’t tight but flowy and therefore doesn’t draw too much attention to this part of the body.

It’s hard to tell people they should avoid certain clothes but for pear shaped women this just doesn’t look too great. Jeans with too much detail on the bum, as it draws attention to this area. Also, skinny jeans in light colours also draws attention to this area.

Remember to keep with your style but keep an eye on your shape.

Prolong the Summer Series- Maxi Skirt Saver

26 Aug

If you read the last blog you would have read the start of the ‘Prolong the Summer Series’. This campaign is my basic attempt at persuading people to not just fall back into routine at the end of August just because autumn is coming. When in fact this is our last chance to go summer crazy.

The Maxi Skirt Saver-

Well, despite what I just said I also think people should save their money because when autumn does get here you’re going to need to buy a whole new wardrobe. My advice for this time of the year, is to wear what you already have, basically stop buying summer clothes. However, with the Maxi Skirt it can be a summery outfit but what is even better you can also wear it in autumn. Can’t see how? Let me show you how.

Image 1 of River Island Paperbag Waist Maxi Skirt

This gorgeous maxi skirt found on the ASOS website is brilliant. White is the perfect colour for summer, because it is so light and if it is sunny then the sun reflects, which gives off the most incredible glowing effect. A natural tan would take this to another level. Although I advise you to not buy any new clothes, this skirt is currently £20 on ASOS.com

To get the autumn look pair the skirt with much darker colours.  Or you could choice a darker coloured skirt and pair it with lighter colours; like white, for summer.

The Pleated Maxi Skirt is from Missguided.co.uk and is currently being sold for £21.99.

This Maxi Skirt Saver idea is a really good way to save money but also have an outfit for both summer and autumn. I love these skirts because they don’t necessarily need to be for tall people, with a pair of heels anyone could wear it, and it immediately elongates you and makes you look taller. Also, those of you like me, who are a little busty; this flowy skirt idea balances out your shape.

Keep with the summer guys 🙂

Prolong the Summer Series- Aztec Galore

24 Aug

As we can seethe summer is slowly drawing to a close. Those long, hot summer days that we cherish so much are disappearing.  At this point most people start to fall back into their usual routine; work, eat and sleep. But, with me, I feel like at this time of the year it’s about prolonging the summer. Making the most of it.

By this I mean rush it. Go to and throw a party every day. Wear every single summer outfit you have in your wardrobe. Wear sunglasses when it’s not that sunny – just because you can.

You may be wondering, why this is so important I decided to blog about it. Well, it’s because I spend my entire year listening to people bitch about the weather and their enormously heavy work load. Then i watch in amazement when it comes to summer and they don’t take full advantage of it. Particularly, with their wardrobe; I know some of you out there have still been wearing tights with your shorts. Seriously, all it takes is a bit of ‘Veet’! But before I get carried away…

Today’s outfit from the ‘Prolong the Summer Series’ is called Aztec Galore.

How does Aztec, prolong the summer? With, those bright colours and fun patterns. Aztec screams fun summer freedom. So wear it to a beach or festival. Aztec shorts and tops are where it is at this summer. Everyone is doing the festival look, as it is incredibly fun and filled with musical influences.

My shorts were from New Look, and were paired with a loose plain black top, I chose this top because I didn’t want to overdo the outfit and I wanted to make sure the shorts popped out. Add big sunglasses and a heavy cardigan for the perfect outfit.

Although, New Look is probably cheaper you can get this from Top Shop. Topshop Oversized Crochet Cardigan, Aztec Print Shorts, Rope And Metal Sandals, Fringe Bag And Round Sunglasses

Hello World.

22 Aug

This is the first official blog on Style Freedom Fashion. I am letting the world know about what will be going down here very soon.

Firstly,  I am going to be blogging my favourite outfits, my new fashion buys, my favourite fashion websites and shops. But that is not it… I  also want to know about what you are wearing. So I am open to emails and tweets. Your advice and tips will be included in my next blog.

I love music and celebrity almost as much as fashion and will be definitely including those two major things in my blogs.  How? Where? and When can we dress like our favourite celebrities, especially with our extremely limited bank accounts? I know lots of you are wondering.

Well, I know all about  the best steals and will be letting you in on my secret.

Most of all, I want to turn all you ‘Plain Jane’s’ out there into fiery fashionistas, so if you want some help just stick with me and I’ll show you how. Fashion doesn’t mean being like the person next to you, or following the crowd. Fashion is about showing who you really are through the clothes you wear. First impressions really count. That is what Style Freedom Fashion is really about., allowing you PYT (Pretty Young Things), to be yourself.

Fashion is Freedom.
