“How not to try too hard…”

3 Nov

I’m back! Like everyone sometimes my worn out heels and faded jeans have to take a break from blogging and enjoy some free time as well as catching up on work that just keeps piling up. I apologise to anyone who has been yearning for post. However, whilst I was away I had a chance to pick up on some amazing fashion deals and tips that I thought I should share with, which will be coming in the upcoming weeks. I am really enjoying the input and definitely want to hear more, so make sure you keep in touch because the best part about doing this is receiving feedback and finding out what you have to say. Please follow @Obbiex on twitter because she is constantly tweeting about the blog.

Today’s theme is ‘How not to try too hard… ’ and I thought I’d share with you what I am wearing to college. Because college/ school/ work are just everyday affairs you don’t want to appear to be putting too much effort into your outfits, even though you actually are. The outfit I am wearing today shows you just how to do that. What is even better is that I was able to get this outfit without breaking the bank.

On my feet I am wearing some Henry Holland ankle boots, these are my all-time favourites, I love them so much because they are so comfortable and cheap, so I don’t feel guilty wearing them. I bought them for £45 but I reckon they are selling at £30.00 now. They freshen up an outfit and add a little bit of class with the brogue detailing.

I am wearing faded skinny jeans and you can get these amazing jeans that just elongate your legs and still make the outfit look extremely casual. It will be as if you just threw it on, rather than spend hours on it.  The Jeans are from Topshop, and are being sold at £40.00, Jamie High Waisted Ankle Grazer Skinny Jeans. The ankle grazer aspect of the jeans really makes you seem taller.

By adding a black bodysuit here, it really sucks in your stomach and makes it appear much flatter than it actually is.  You can pick this up from http://www.missguided.com for just £8.99. This is such a bargain because it’s one of those items which you will constantly be wearing.

A leather jacket will definitely rock out the outfit, without going too overboard. This particular one is from Miss Selfridge for £55, however, leather jackets so en trend right now that they are selling them everywhere. So, if you are a little short on quality and are not two fussed about the cost you could probably get one from Primark for half the price.

 Jersey Sleeve Biker

Finally to get a bit of attention and keep your ears warm as it gets colder; add a faux fur head band.  This particular one from ASOS adds a little colour to the outfit and makes it seem a little more glamorous.  The best part about it is that it’s only £8.00. The probably the cheapest bit of glamour you will ever see.

So that’s it! A total of £142.00 spent on a whole outfit at the most, which is incredible! Please remember that you don’t have to go and buy exactly what you see. Use what’s in your wardrobe, allow accessories to really show who you are.  Make sure your personality comes through so that you don’t just copy an outfit it; but you take it and make it yours. Make it believable for you!

There are a lot of grammatical errors within this post.
Despite this, the overall idea is really cool and understated.
I’m not too sure about the faux fur as I’m not too sure that it works very well with the leather jacket. I’ll try it and get back to you.
What type of jewellery do you suggests I should pair with this outfit. The wrong pieces can completely ruin and outfit. What do you think??

      Hi Blair,
Thanks for the comment, i don’t really mind about the grammatical errors as its about the message and I think people get the gist despite there being some mistakes. I am quite shocked that you don’t think faux fur goes with leather as it really does. Have you not seen those leather jackets with faux fur collars? The two really compliment each other, I suggest you try it out and see for yourself. I expect it is one of those things you just can’t visualise. Personally, I would keep the jewellery simple because of the fur and the leather; so basic bracelets and a simple necklace would do. Nothing too over the top, just personal things.
      I hope that helped.
